In all Catalonia you will not find another piece of coast quite so unique as El Fangar. You may well feel that you are in the middle of the Sahara. It is even quite possible to see mirages here, making you think that you see cars driving over the water. Don’t worry: it’s your eyes that are tricking you.

It is possible to reach the lighthouse by car. A sand track takes you there. Cycling to the lighthouse of El Fangar is a fantastic and unforgettable trip; but if you do it in the summer, do not forget to take a cap and enough water.

The beach of El Fangar is the biggest ecosystem of dunes along the Spanish Mediterranean coast. There are fixed dunes, which usually have vegetation, and mobile dunes.

There are some areas of El Fangar where access is forbidden depending on the season (even though the access to the lighthouse is open year-round). From April 1st to August 15th it is not possible to enter the nest building areas, and from June 1st to July 31st it is not possible to go along the area beyond the lighthouse.
